What is Habitat for Humanity?

Fight Poverty, Build Hope.

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) International is a non-profit housing organization with a mission to eliminate poverty housing worldwide by building simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families themselves and volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity builds for people of all backgrounds, races and religions to provide needy families with a simple and decent place to live in. [HFH] brings together volunteers regardless of their race, language or religion, s that together, we can make this world a place where every person has a decent place to call home. [HFH] believes this would create a proper living environment, and people will regain dignity and health, enabling them to do more for their own community. [HFH] helps people help themselves.

HFH has presence in about 90 countries around the world. At 2009, HFH has built more than 350, 000 houses, providing for more than 1, 750, 000 people in more than 3,000 communities in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and throughout the Asia-Pacific region with safe and decent shelters.”[1]
